![]() ![]() A full line of British tanks came in December 2015, and French air and ground forces in 2017. Later patches gave the United States their own complete tech tree of armored fighting vehicles. On tanks and other armored vehicles were made playable, starting with the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. Open beta testing on the Windows PC began on November 1, 2012, with 200 aircraft and 600,000 players. And over time, many more planes and ships will be added. The game involves all five of the major aircraft players in World War II: the United States, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union. Considering all three will eventually dig into your wallet though, you probably won't stick to more than one.War Thunder is a cross-platform MMO (PC, macOS, PS4, Linux), that has to do with vehicular combat between fighters and ground vehicles from pre-World War II, to the jets and main battle tanks that filled the battlefields early in the Cold War. They are all free so I'd give them all a try, but I obviously am sticking with WoT's gameplay over warthunder's scope or warships'. The maps are terrible in this game, I feel like someone plops two flags down, adds three corridors between them, then hands it off to the art department and peaces out. T8+ can be very punishing if you don't have the latest meta premiums or the economy to sustain good loadouts in your tanks. ![]() Playing for free isn't nearly as inconvenient and frustrating as Warthunder, but it's still pay2win, especially at higher tiers. It has the fastest progression (but the grind can be much more miserable than Warships') and a massive amount of tank content. Since you've played it at some point I won't go into too may details, but it's by far the most polished of the three. WoT is somewhere in the middle in all of this. Horrible and extremely long grinds, very little game balance, a bad new user experience, a confusing UI, broken physics, and I feel like if Gaijin could reach out and smack you for playing F2P, they would. On the other hand, everything else about the game could frustrate you. I also feel like, generally, the maps are more interesting. Being on the dealing end of this feels amazing. The combat also has this oomph because of how dangerous the weapons are. I definitely have the least experience here, so I cant go into too much detail about how the endgame or p2w aspects are. You also have to like ships combat, something that I think isn't as universally enjoyed as tanks or planes. On the downside, the game is very monotonous (to me) and WG's greed is more egregious here. It also generally has the easiest progression. Warships is relaxing and has the easiest newbie experience. /r/wotmemes for meme posts that aren't on Mondays./r/TankPorn for all things Tanks and Armoured Fighting Vehicles./r/worldoftanksconsole for Xbox and PS4 players. If you're new, read this guide and then this one.Apply for a flair here!
